JESUIT SCHOOLS IN ASIA PACIFIC
As of 2019, there are 46 Jesuit-owned and affiliate schools in Asia Pacific: Australia, Cambodia, East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Taiwan, and the Philippines.

On the morning of the 19th of September 2019, the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Junior and Senior High Schools opened their doors to welcome fifty Ignatian educators from Asia Pacific into their classrooms. These Ignatian educators were participants in the 2nd JCAP Workshop on the PRINCIPLE AND FOUNDATION OF JESUIT EDUCATION, coming from seven regions: East Timor, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Macau, Taiwan, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
(more…)In a simple but moving ceremony held on the Feast of Mary the Queen, at a Mass in Xavier School, Philippines, Fr. Ari Dy, SJ, presided and missioned Ms. Ma. Kristina Velez to teach English at the Xavier Jesuit School in Sisophon, Cambodia, where she will serve for one year.
(more…)The Ignatian Teachers Program (ITP) is the last workshop offered by the JCAP Education Secretariat in cooperation with St. Ignatius College (Riverview, Australia). The conference is customized for principals, deputies, administrators, and senior teachers who seek ongoing formation for themselves and their school communities.
This year’s ITP will be held in Sydney, Australia from November 10 to 16, 2019. Participants are expected to arrive on the 10th and may leave on the 16th.
(more…)From May 14 to 18, 2019, the Jesuit Education Secretaries flew into Taipei for their annual meeting.
This year the meeting was focused on: (a) the global event being hosted by Indonesia next year, the II COLLOQUIUM JESEDU JOGJA 2020, where about 500 leaders of Jesuit schools from around the world are expected to congregate in Jogjakarta, Indonesia, and (b) the concrete ways in which the recently announced Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus can be promoted by our schools.
Read moreFrom 29 June to 4 July next year in 2020, almost 500 delegates from the global network of Jesuit schools are expected to fly to Indonesia’s cultural capital, the ancient city of Jogjakarta, for the II Colloquium JESEDU-Jogja2020. The international colloquium is only the second of its kind, to be held eight years later after the very first International Colloquium of Jesuit Secondary Schools held in Boston College from July 29 to August 2 of 2012.
(more…)We are happy to announce that registration is now open for our next JCAP workshop brought to you by the IGNATIAN INITIATIVE FOR TEACHER EXCELLENCE (IGNITE) and the ATENEO DE MANILA INSTITUTE FOR THE SCIENCE AND ART OF LEARNING AND TEACHING (SALT).
The workshop is called “The Principle and Foundation of Jesuit Education,” and will be held from September 15 (Sunday) to 21 (Saturday), 2019 at the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in Mandaue City, Cebu, Philippines. Note: Participants are expected to arrive no later than 5 pm on Sunday (9/15), and may leave to return home anytime in the morning of Saturday (9/21).
(more…)From the 26th of April 2019 until the 1st of May, a diverse group of educators from our Jesuit schools in Asia Pacific found themselves in Seven Fountains Retreat Centre in Chiang Mai, Thailand, for a week of learning and networking.
(more…)For the past two years and a half, teachers and administrators from our Asia Pacific network of Jesuit schools have been gathering and learning together at our regional education workshops. Last year alone, a total of 104 participated in our three workshops, excluding the workshop offered exclusively to Japan in August and the International Education Conference held in Manila last October (see below for a full report).
We are happy to announce the line-up of education workshops for Asia Pacific network this year. As always, these three modules are offered under JCAP’s IGNITE (Ignatian Initiative for Teacher Excellence) program in cooperation with the Ateneo SALT Institute.

Eleven regents from the Myanmar Region, with one lay volunteer from Singapore, participated in a workshop on Ignatian Pedagogy from the 27th of December to the 30th. The workshop, conducted by Fr. Johnny Go SJ, Asia Pacific education secretary and director of the Ateneo de Manila SALT Institute, was held at the newly opened Myanmar Leadership Institute (MLI) in Yangon.
