The Ignatian Teachers Program (ITP) is the last workshop offered by the JCAP Education Secretariat in cooperation with St. Ignatius College (Riverview, Australia). The conference is customized for principals, deputies, administrators, and senior teachers who seek ongoing formation for themselves and their school communities.
This year’s ITP will be held in Sydney, Australia from November 10 to 16, 2019. Participants are expected to arrive on the 10th and may leave on the 16th.
The following are the primary objectives of the workshop:
1. To facilitate dialogue between the educational and Ignatian Spirituality apostolates within the tradition of the Society of Jesus
2. To encourage dialogue between significant educational trends, Ignatian Spirituality and Ignatian Pedagogy
3. To contribute to the invigoration of Jesuit Education within the framework of the global network of Jesuit secondary educational institutions
In addition, the ITP seeks to build on the work of the 2014 SIPEI Conference, which clearly states, “We want to take seriously the GC 35, D.2 N.20, call to ‘serving Christ’s mission today means paying special attention to its global context. This context requires us to act as a universal body with a universal mission, realizing at the same time the radical diversity of our situations. It is as a worldwide community – and, simultaneously, as a network of local communities –that we seek to serve others across the world.’”
The ITP will be held in 2019 at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, in Sydney, Australia. The program will run between the 11th and 15th November; it is expected that participants would arrive to Sydney on the 10th November and return on the 16th November. Areas of focus include:
● The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm
● Teaching and Learning and ICT
● Learning Through the Eyes of a Student
● Challenges of Jesuit Education
Accommodation is provided at Canisius College, Pymble. The cost of the conference is US$450. Transport to and from Sydney is not included in this cost. Payment is to be made on site at the workshop.
