The third and final IGNITE workshop this year for Jesuit schools in Asia Pacific is the IGNATIAN TEACHERS PROGRAM (formerly, AITP), a module that has been offered for the past years by our team of Ignatian educators from St. Ignatius, Riverview, Sydney, Australia. The ITP will be held in 2017 at Saint Ignatius’ College, Riverview, in Sydney, Australia from the 12th (arrival) to the 18th of November (departure).

The ITP is a workshop offered by the Jesuit Asia Pacific Conference designed especially for senior teachers and administrators, who seek ongoing formation for themselves and their school communities.  It serves as an introductory module for both teachers and non-teaching staff (TILT 01 + WISE 01).*

The following are its main objectives:

1. To facilitate dialogue between the educational and Ignatian Spirituality apostolates within the tradition of the Society of Jesus;

2. To encourage dialogue between significant educational trends, Ignatian Spirituality and Ignatian Pedagogy; and

3. To contribute to the invigoration of Jesuit Education within the framework of the global network of Jesuit secondary educational institutions.

In addition, the ITP seeks to build on the work of the 2014 SIPEI Conference, which clearly states: “We want to take seriously the GC 35, D.2 N.20, call to ‘serving Christ’s mission today means paying special attention to its global context. This context requires us to act as universal body with a universal mission, realizing at the same time the radical diversity of our situations. It is as a worldwide community – and, simultaneously, as a network of local communities –that we seek to serve others across the world.’”

 Areas of focus include:

  • The Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm
  • Teaching and Learning and ICT
  • Teacher Review and Development Program
  • Challenges of Jesuit Education

Accommodation, including meals, is provided at the venue, Saint Ignatius College, Riverview. The cost of the conference is US$455.  Transport to and from Sydney is not included in this cost.
